Roma Eyeing Didier Drogba Capture
Serie A side Roma has joined the long list of clubs across Europe pondering a swoop for Galatasaray’s iconic striker Didier Drogba, according to French daily Le 10 Sport.
The stock of the 36-year-old striker has certainly risen in recent months, with various top clubs, including defending Italian champions Juventus thought to be hot on Drogba’s trail.
The sudden spark in interest is believed to be due to the striker’s contract with Galatasaray, which is set to expire at the end of the season – although the Turkish giants have an extension option embedded in Drogba’s deal with the club.
But Roma manager Rudi Garcia has other plans. Indeed, he is believed to have already held preliminary talks with Drogba’s agents regarding bringing the striker to the Italian capital.
Garcia is racing for Drogba to sign a contract with Roma before Galatasaray activate the extension clause in their deal with the former Chelsea striker, but nothing concrete has been established yet.
Drogba’s current form is still commendable despite his age, with Drogba scoring 16 times this season and adding seven more assists in all competitions.
