Juventus Considering Swoop for Galarasaray Superstar Drogba
Serie A giants Juventus are mulling over making a swoop for Galatasaray’s Didier Drogba come the re-opening of transfer window in the summer, according to Italian sports paper Tuttosport.
The Bianconeri are blasting their way to the Italian league title this season, having already amassed 81 points in 30 games, an outstanding 14 points clear of closest contenders Roma.
But it appears manager Antonio Conte is not satisfied with his attacking options up front, despite his wealth of choices in that area. Indeed, Juventus have six strikers currently on their payroll but all of them have only managed a combined total of 33 goals. Consider this with the fact that the Italian side’s league goals tally overall is 67, and that their second-highest goal scorer, Arturo Vidal, is a central midfielder.
Such a dilemma appears to have prompted Conte into searching for another prolific target man, and Didier Drogba might just be the man for the job.
Drogba, 36, is world-renown for his goal-scoring talent. His record this season alone reflects that – a tantalising 16 goals in 37 games in all competitions.
And with the Ivorian sharpshooter’s contract with Galatasaray set to expire at the end of the season, Juventus are understood to be pondering over offering Drogba a deal to move him to the Serie A – a league he has not played before – before Galatasaray decide to extend the striker’s stay in Turkey.
Whether or not Drogba decided to agree to Conte’s offer, however, remains to be seen.
