Southampton’s Ramirez Will Be ‘Honoured’ to Move to AC Milan, says Agent

Southampton’s 23-year-old attacking midfielder Gaston Ramirez is ‘honoured’ at the thought of playing for Italian giants AC Milan to replace the veteran playmaker Kaka, says Ramirez’s agent.

Ramirez, an Uruguayan international, made only 17 appearances for Southampton in the league this season, with an outstanding 15 of them coming from the bench. In that span, he has scored only one goal and tallied three assists.

And it appears that the Uruguayan midfielder is keen to finally leave the Saints for good, as he looks for more first-team football, with AC Milan hopefully his destination.

Milan, for their part, will be looking for a replacement to Kaka, who is thought to be eyeing a lucrative move to the United States’ Major League Soccer – and Ramirez may just fit the bill for the Rossoneri.

“It would be a weighty inheritance to replace Kaka, but an honour for Gaston. How could you say no to Milan, who are one of the best clubs in Europe?” Ramirez’s agent, Pablo Betancourt, told the Daily Mirror.

“It would be an important opportunity for him. We are trying to understand which team can make the right offer to Saints,” the agent added.

Ramirez did have a stint in Italy when he played with Italian side Bologna from 2010 to 2012. In his stay there, Ramirez played in no less than 60 matches, scoring 15 goals along the way.

The Uruguayan’s contract is set to run until 2016.
