Real Madrid Defender Raphael Varane Firmly Set in Chelsea Radar

Varane, 21, has taken great leaps to improve his overall defensive game this season, evident in his 20 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s Los Blancos so far in all competitions.
And while the youngster from Lille will surely be Real Madrid’s key fixture in the back four in the future, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho might have other plans.
Indeed, according to Spanish daily Marca, Mourinho is keen on bringing the wonderkid to London, as the Portuguese tactician seeks to revamp his own squad at Chelsea.
Mourinho need not any scout’s report on Varane, having managed the boy during the manager’s stint at the Santiago Bernabeu – Indeed, it was Mourinho who gave Varane his first chance at first-team football.
Varane, however, has a contract with the La Liga heavyweights until 2017 and Real Madrid will make certain that deal is saw through. Whether or not the move pushes through in the summer, however, remains to be seen.
