Manchester United and Chelsea Target Cavani Considering PSG Exit

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has dropped a big hint to Premier League suitors Manchester United and Chelsea that he might consider leaving the French capital in the summer.

Cavani, who prefers to play as an out-and-out striker, is being forced to play at the wings for most of his 23 league appearances for the club thus far. Nevertheless, he still managed to bag a commendable 14 goals along the way.

However, it is understood that Cavani is disappointed to be played in the wings and play second-fiddle to PSG team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, despite the hefty price tag the Uruguayan carried when he swapped Napoli for PSG last year – he was brought in to the Parc des Princes for €64.5m.

And it appears Cavani has decided to warn PSG that situations have to change or he may choose to leave, telling French daily L’Equipe: “Will I still be at PSG next year? You will know at the end of the season, once we conclude our campaign.

“I repeat, I feel good in Paris, but there are some things I’ll have to clarify with the club, certain things not need to be done differently.

“At PSG, it’s not easy. I defend a lot now, whereas I was given a different idea of my role in the team [when I joined],” Cavani added.

And in what appears to be a parting shot to his suitors, when asked about the prospect of playing in England, the striker said: “Playing in the Premier League? I’d like to.”

Cavani has a contract with PSG that is set to run until the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
