Liverpool Target Diego Contento Could Leave Bayern, Reveals CEO Rummenigge
Bayern Munich right-back and German international Diego Contento could be set for a transfer come the re-opening of the transfer market in the summer, club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed.
Contento, 23, is a graduate of the Bayern Munich youth ranks, and has done well to live up to expectations, playing a key role as the club’s left-back in his four seasons for the German side so far. His progress in the current campaign, however, has stalled due to numerous injuries that constrained his opportunities to only ten league appearances.
Nevertheless, his talent is undoubted and clubs from all over Europe will certainly be interested in adding such a player in their squad, with Premier League giants Liverpool thought to be on top of that list.
Now it appears that the Merseyside outfit will get their wishes, with Bayern CEO Rummenigge hinting the defensive player may make a move away from the club come the summer.
“If Contento wants to leave, we are ready to talk with him about [his departure],” the Bayern official told German daily Kicker.
Apart from Liverpool, fellow Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin are also thought to be interested in snapping up the young star.
