Liverpool Now Favourites to Sign Chelsea and Manchester United Target Lallana
Current Premier League leaders Liverpool are thought to have moved into pole position to snap up Southampton’s on-form midfielder Adam Lallana, despite heavy interest coming from Chelsea and Manchester United.
English top-flight under-achievers Manchester United were first to jump on the Adam Lallana bandwagon earlier in the year, with now-ousted manager David Moyes thought to be keen on signing the midfielder then.
And while the Red Devils’ interest in the Saints man has not cooled since, a new club in the form of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea have entered and joined the fray to snap up the England international.
Southampton have already endeavoured to quash the rumours circulating rampantly in the press in recent months, with club director Les Reed recently releasing a statement of vehement denial.
But this has not stopped Liverpool from entering the race and now it appears they are the favourites to land the midfielder’s signature, with the Anfield giants set to clinch the Premier League title, according to the Mirror.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to add the player to his squad in hopes of injecting added jest and creativity into his ranks as his club enter the foray of Champions League football next season.
Lallana, for his part, is yet to publicly state his position on the matter – as it stands, only time can tell if the midfielder will indeed remain with Southampton find greener pasture elsewhere.
Lallana’s contract with Liverpool is set to run until the summer of 2018.
