Hull agree fee with Everton for Nikica Jelavic

[one_fourth last=”no”]File:Hull City.svg[/one_fourth]Hull City have agreed a fee with Everton for Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic and Tigers boss Steve Bruce plans to hold talks with the forward this week about a possible switch to the KC Stadium. Bruce is desperate to add some fire-power to his front line and he sees Jelavic as the ideal signing. Bruce confirmed to BBC Football: “We hope we can persuade him to come here, we’re trying our best.”

The 28-year-old signed for Everton from Glasgow Rangers two years ago, in a deal thought to be worth around £5.5m. He initially started brightly with the club scoring 11 goal in his first 16 games and was a regular fixture in the first team squad under David Moyes, making 43 appearances and scoring 8 goals throughout the 2012-2013 season.

He has found his game time limited since Roberto Martinez took over at Goodison Park in the summer and he has only made 10 Premier League appearances this season for the Toffees. Jelavic has struggled to dislodge Belgian hot-shot Romelu Lukaku from the team this season and he only managed his first goal of the season for Everton last weekend in the FA Cup win over QPR.

Steve Bruce’s Tigers were one of the favourites to be relegated at the start of the season but he has seen his team perform magnificently well so far, keeping 6 clean sheets at home and beating Liverpool at the KC, just two examples of the great work Bruce is doing with Hull City. Goals have been a serious problem however and currently Irish winger Robbie Brady is the clubs top goal scorer with 3. Hull have also only managed 22 goals in their 21 Premier League games so far, including a 6-0 drubbing of Fulham recently.

A statement on the Hull’s official website confirmed: “Hull City have reached an agreement with Everton over the transfer of striker Nikica Jelavic and will now enter talks with the player.”
