Demba Ba to leave Chelsea?

[one_fourth last=”no”]File:Internazionale.svg[/one_fourth]Demba Ba could be set to clear out his locker and leave Stamford Bridge in the upcoming January transfer window. The Senegalese star is a wanted man and both Arsenal and Inter Milan are readying bids for the striker.

Speculation was rife amongst the English press today when yet again Ba was left out of Mourinho’s match day squad for Chelsea’s visit to the Emirates. The forward, who joined the Blue’s from Newcastle last January, has only started 3 times for the club this season and is ready to move on in search of regular first team football.

A regular starter under Rafa Benitez at the Bridge, his chances of more playing time for Chelsea will definitely diminish next season with hot property Romelu Lukaku set to return to the club following his season long loan spell at Everton.

Immediately Ba was linked with Arsenal due to him not featuring against the Gunners last night, Arsenal also reportably having a bid for the player rejected in the summer. But Ba himself has actually denied there is a possibility of that move. “People talk a lot about me joining Arsenal,” Ba said. “But there has never been an approach from them. There is nothing going on in this regard.”

Wenger is prepared to bid again but the offer is likely to be turned down as Mourinho will not want to sell his striker to a club he sees as rivals for the Premier League title.

West Ham have also been linked, however Ba would not be keen on a move to Upton Park. Although Sam Allardyce could guarantee him the starts he craves, Ba does not want to play for a club seemingly already in a relegation battle.

It is actually Inter Milan who are chasing hard after Ba and the Nerazzurri are ready to pounce. Milan are seriously struggling up front this season and believe the man who scored 29 league goals for Newcastle United in 54 games, can add some strength and depth to their squad as they look to challenge for the Serie A title and get back into Europe.

There is a suggestion coming from the San Siro that they are prepared to let Colombia international midfielder Fredy Guarin move in the opposite direction and join Mourinho’s revolution at Chelsea. This move would see Ba switch to Inter Milan as part of a makeweight, so the Italian capital club could also expect to receive €6-8m from the Blue’s.
