Chelsea winning race for Andrea Ranocchia
[one_fourth last=”no”][/one_fourth]Andrea Ranocchia could be heading for Stamford Bridge in January but the Blues will have to tie up any deal quickly, as both Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in the towering defender.
Ranocchia is currently out of favour at Inter Milan, he has been in and out of the team under manager Walter Mazzarri and with the World Cup Finals in Brazil only 6 months away, Ranocchia is in desperate need of guaranteed first team football.
Chelsea may soon be light in central defence, centre back David Luiz has strongly been linked with Barcelona recently and he could be set to leave the club as soon as the window opens. The flamboyant defender has not impressed Mourinho at all since his return to the club, and the Portuguese manager will use the funds from any sale to the Catalan club to bring in Ranocchia to London.

The 25-year-old, a 2010/11 Coppa Italia winner with Inter Milan, at 6ft 5in is every managers dream defender, strong in aerial battles, great at tackling and always providing timely blocks. An added bonus for Mourinho is that Ranocchia would be available for Chelsea’s Champions League campaign this season with Inter not featuring in Europe’s elite competition this year.
Sky Italia recently reported on Ranocchia: “Chelsea have spoken with Inter about Ranocchia. The English side are showing interest in him, and are considering the player as an option should David Luiz leave, as the Brazilian doesn’t have a good relationship with Jose Mourinho.”
United and Arsenal are also lurking in the background and are poised to bid should any potential deal with Chelsea fall through.
