Chelsea closer to bringing in much needed striker
Chelsea are supposedly in discussions with representatives of FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez ahead of a possible January bid for the €40m (£33m) rated South American based on Portuguese source Abola.
Martinez has been a huge success since going to Primeira Liga side FC Porto 18 months ago, scoring 43 goals in 53 performances in all competitions and Jose Mourinho may well think that the strong forward is the perfect man to lead his Blues attack.
Mourinho has observed as his present quartet of strikers, Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o, Andre Schurrle and Fernando Torres have all failed to make an impression, managing just 4 Premier League goals between them this season.
The addition of a powerful prolific forward such as Martinez spearheading the Chelsea attack could be just what is needed to get the West London side pushing for a Premier League title they may well otherwise have difficulty to secure with their current striking options.
