Arsenal keen to sign Diego Costa

Atlético Madrid are joint top of the Spanish league and into the last-16 of the champions league. Thanks to their in-form striker Diego Costa. Would he really want to leave the Vicente Calderón? This will be tested with Arsenal attempting to trigger his £32 million release clause in January.
Arsene Wenger has been a long term admirer of Costa and Arsenal have been monitoring the situation, preparing a bid and have already approached his agent. Atlético Madrid may be keen to cash in on their star striker and could be tempted by a massive cash bid from the Gunners, they have been tempted by big money offers in the past, Fernando Torres to Liverpool for example, but with their bitter city rivals Real breathing down their neck in La Liga surely they would not want to break up the winning formula?
The 25 year old Brazilian striker began his career in Portugal with Braga before signing twice for Atlético Madrid. He has already hit the target 22 times this season. He could be the prolific goal scorer that the Gunners have missed since the sale of Thierry Henry and who’s boots have never been filled, Costa would certainly improve their chances of keeping their current top spot.

Arsenal have also drawn up a shortlist of four other strikers they are interested in (probably to avoid the embarrassment of the last few transfer windows), it includes Fernando Llorente of Juventus, Stephan El Shaarawy of Milan, Robert Lewandowski of Borussia Dortmund and Ezequ of PSG.
If Arsenal do manage to persuade at least one of these top drawer players to move to the Emirates then it certainly would increase their chances of bringing the premier league crown back to North London, and end their trophy drought.
Costa could be the missing piece of Arsenal’s jigsaw.
