Monaco Ponder Head Coach Offer for Dortmund Boss Klopp

AS Monaco owner Dmitri Rybolovlev is understood to be mulling over the possibility of acquiring the managerial services of Borussia Dortmund’s enigmatic manager Jurgen Klopp, according to Le 10 Sport.

The oil-rich side Monaco are doing well in the French league thus far, staying in their objective of securing a Champions League berth by amassing 63 points in 30 games played thus far, nine points clear of nearest rivals Lille.

But Rybolovlev is thought to be concerned whether the club’s current head coach Claudio Ranieri has what it takes to take Monaco to the next level come next season, with Monaco currently 13 points adrift of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain. The thinking is that if Monaco are so much far out at this stage of the competition despite their heavy investment, perhaps its their tactics – and indeed the head coach which employs such tactics – that must be the problem.

Enter Klopp, who is undoubtedly one of the best tacticians in European football thus far. Indeed, he has brought Dortmund to new heights ever since he became the club’s head coach, leading Der BVB to back-to-back Bundesliga titles as well as the finals of the Champions League last season.

Such a pedigree is proving a worthwhile investment for Rybolovlev, and the Russian millionaire might just offer Klopp a bumper pay package to convince him to move to France next season. Whether Klopp will make the move, however, is still uncertain.
