Real Madrid Set Sights on AC Milan Wonderkid De Sciglio

La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are believed to be interested in snapping up AC Milan’s energetic young right-back Mattia De Sciglio, according to Italian daily Tuttosport.

A quick look at Real Madrid’s full team list will reveal that Los Blancos lack depth in the right-back position, with youngster Dani Carvajal the only one the can rely to as veteran Alvaro Arbeloa remains sidelined with injury.

Now the Santiago Bernabeu outfit are looking to fill that right-back void by setting their sights on 21-year-old De Sciglio. The Rossoneri defender has made strides in improving this season and has already been involved in at least 17 matches for Milan’s first team.

Real Madrid are believed to be keen on acquiring such a talent, so much so that they are willing to shell out €18 million just to convince Milan to let go of their highly-rated defender.

Such a huge sum for a young full-back seems excessive, but Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has already worked with De Sciglio in the past, when the Italian manager was still a coach with Milan a few years ago. Equipped with precious first-hand knowledge, Ancelotti can only be certain as to the real value of De Sciglio, and is keen for a reunion. Whether De Sciglio feels the same way, however, remains to be seen.

De Sciglio’s contract with Milan keeps him locked down with the San Siro side until 2016.
