Oriol Romeu Unsure of Chelsea Future But Hints Valencia Stay
Valencia midfielder Oriol Romeu, on-loan this season from Premier League giants Chelsea, has dropped a big hint regarding his future, although he has admitted nothing is yet set in stone.
Romeu, 22, has provided a very strong cover for Valencia this season, evidenced in his 18 appearances overall for the Mestalla outfit – although he has not scored nor provided any goals.
And while Romeu is enjoying his first-team chances for Valencia this season, he remains unsure over his future, revealing in a press conference: “The club told me they were pleased with my performances and that they would like me to keep playing for them.
“However, we will have to wait for the season to finish. In the meantime, anything can happen – everything depends on what Chelsea prefers,” Romeu further explained.
Romeu signed with Chelsea in 2011, after a three-year stint with Barcelona’s “B” team, which saw him play in 49 matches overall and a game with the first team.
Romeu’s contract with Chelsea is set to run until 2015.
