Fulham’s Bryan Ruiz to join PSV on loan

[one_fourth last=”no”]File:PSV Eindhoven.svg[/one_fourth]Fulham striker Bryan Ruiz is set to join PSV Eindhoven on loan for the remainder of the season and the Cottagers have reportedly agreed a £1m loan fee with the Eredivisie club. Ruiz has already travelled to Eindhoven for a medical and the two clubs are now hammering out the terms of the deal.

The Costa Rican international joined Fulham from Dutch side FC Twente for £10.6m during the 2011 summer transfer window and he has made 51 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals. The forward has been in and out of the team at Craven Cottage this season and since Martin Jol’s sacking he has started only one game under new manager Rene Meulensteen.

The 28-year-old is keen on a return to Holland and his agent Rene Vijt confirmed his recent medical with PSV saying: “He did have a medical at the club on Monday and I can say that everything went well, now it is up to the two clubs before anything else can happen.”

Ruiz is desperate for regular first-team football ahead of this summers World Cup and after being drawn in the group of death with England, Italy and Uruguay, he does not want to miss out on the opportunity of appearing in only Costa Rica’s fourth World Cup campaign.

New Fulham head coach Rene Meulensteen admitted last week that he would allow Ruiz to leave saying: “I wouldn’t call his signing a mistake because at that time it was probably for Fulham the right choice and the right investment, don’t get me wrong, he is a very good player. I’ve come in, I’ve looked at the squad, worked with these players, I’ve picked my teams on what I think are the right reasons and motivations, but I can also understand Bryan’s point of view.”
