Parma Defender Gabriel Paletta on Schalke Crosshairs
Parma centre-back and Italian international Gabriel Paletta is one of the transfer targets Bundesliga side Schalke are trying to acquire in the summer, according to Sky Italia.
The 28-year-old former Liverpool defender is one of the key players in Parma’s defensive line-up, evidenced in his 20 appearances overall for the Serie A side.
And now it appears that Die Konigsblauen are keen to bring Paletta’s defensive talents to the Bundesliga. Indeed, the Ruhr giants are understood to have already made an enquiry as to the availability of the Italian centre-half, and only time will tell if Schalke do get their hands on the defender.
The Argentina-born Paletta started his professional football career with Argentine side Club Atletico Banfield at the age of 19. A year later, he was jetted off to the glory of the Premier League by joining Liverpool, but failed to cement his position in the first team.
Since then he has had a spell with Boca Juniors before arriving in Parma in 2010.
Paletta’s contract with Parma expires in 2017.
