OFFICIAL: Manuel Neuer Pens New Bayern Munich Deal

Bayern Munich’s number one Manuel Neuer has put pen to paper on a new contract which will see him play for the historic German treble-winners until 2019.

The move will now surely put to bed any lingering rumours that Premier League giants Manchester City could angle a move for the goalkeeper. Indeed, the oil-rich club were thought to be planning a raid on Neuer last year, to replace the unpredictable Joe Hart.

“Our goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has today extended his contract until 30 June 2019,” Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in an official statement at the club’s website.

“[This gesture] is a mark of his wonderful character, because he’s said: ‘I want Bayern Munich forever!’ I’d like to thank Manuel Neuer very warmly for this,” Rummenigge added.

Neuer joined Bayern in 2011 from fierce domestic rivals Schalke and has since then become one of the key players in Allianz Arena outfit’s first team.

Since then, the keeper has won a long list of accolades, including two Bundesliga titles, a German Cup, a German Supercup, a Champions League crown, a UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.

Most recently, Neuer was crowned World’s Best Goalkeeper by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics and was inducted as a member in the UEFA as well as FIFA Team of the Year.
