OFFICIAL: Leverkusen Keeper Andres Palop Announces Retirement
Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Andres Palop is set to retire at the end of the season at the golden age of 40, the club’s official website has announced.
Palop joined Leverkusen in June of last year on the back of a brilliant career in La Liga that spanned two decades, playing as keeper for the likes of Valencia, Sevilla and Villareal, making a total 453 appearances.
“Now it’s time to hang up my gloves,” Palop said.
Palop brings to a halt an impressive professional footballing career which saw him play in the Champions League final twice. Among his accolades include two La Liga titles, three UEFA cups, two UEFA super cups, two Spanish cups and a Spanish Supercup.
