Borussia Monchengladbach Think Move for Basel’s Valentin Stocker
Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach are thought to be lining up a bid for Basel’s talented winger and Switzerland international Valentin Stocker, according to German daily BILD.
Stocker, 25, has been in outstanding form for his club this season, scoring ten goals and notching 14 assists in his 43 appearances overall under Basel colours so far.
Monchengladbach, who are racing for Europa League qualification this term – they are currently in sixth place in the German top flight, making them eligible to qualify in the Europa League play-off round – will hope to sign the talented Swiss in order to boost their status both domestically as well as in Europe in the next campaign.
But Die Fohlen face stiff competition for Stocker with fellow German sides Hertha Berlin and Koln both interested in acquiring the winger’s services.
Stocker, for his part, is yet to shed light on this matter. As it stands, only time can tell if the Basel fan favourite should eventually leave and opt to seek greener pastures in Germany.
Stocker started his professional footballing career with Basel’s U21 side in 2005, cementing his position in the senior team three years later.
The winger’s contract with Basel is set to run until the summer of 2016.
