Bayer Leverkusen Lead Race for Nurnberg Striker Josip Drmic
Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are thought to be leading the pack of clubs angling to sign Nurnberg’s wonderkid, up-and-coming striker Josip Drmic.
According to German daily Bild, Leverkusen are thought to have already fired the starting gun in the race to sign Drmic by tabling a €9m for the youngster – Drmic’s contract allegedly has a €6m release clause.
Leverkusen’s latest move will surely call the attention of Premier League club West Ham United, with Hammers boss Sam Allardyce also keen in acquiring the player’s services.
Indeed, according to The Telegraph, Allardyce personally watched the Nurnberg’s crushing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Wolfsburg to check on Drmic’s talents up close.
Apart from West Ham, other English clubs eyeing a move on Drmic are Everton and Liverpool. In Germany, Borussia Dortmund are believed to be interested.
Drmic, 21, has been exceptional for Nurnberg this season, scoring 16 goals and adding three more assists in his 29 league appearances so far.
